I would say Dances With Wolves. Sorry I'm s guy and the mushy love stories don't do it for me. The story went far beyond the love of two people, but a love for a different culture, society and way of life. Not to mention the symbolic love between man and animal. Actually a very deep movie on many levels. When the soldiers shot the wolf it brought tears to my eyes. And still does every time I see that movie.

The best love story that I have ever seen would be the film " The Story of Us".

It's not a classic(yet) but, the best love story I hav ever seen is "WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN" with Meg Ryan and Andy Garcia. The reason I think it's the best love story is cause I lived that story almost to a tee. My husband stood by me all the way just like he stood by her.

Casablanca. Wonderful script, very deep, very real.
Amazing acting. Subtext. Exotic local. Real ending. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Claude Rains.
Love and sacrifice. It doesn't age- it's theme is universal. It will draw a crowd in the year 10,000,000
if people are still around.
And a great song.

''Betty Blue.'' French film. Very passionate and funny but incredibly touching. Still moves me 20 years on.

Betty is quite unbalanced. If I recall correctly there is a scene where Betty has had a miscarriage, her lover returns home to find her sat at the dinner table, makeup running all down her face, she looks like a tragic clown. He sticks his hands in a dish of bolognese sauce, or something, and rubs it all over his face to illustrate how he shares her pain... You have to see it really :-)

That's a hard one- I would have to say The Notebook - but thats an obvious one. I mean that story has the most accurate play of how relationships are and while watching it with my man, I saw so much of how we act in the characters- it touched my heart.

Also A walk to remember because its got a GREAt story line and is one of very few movies that has made me wanna cry. It love how they took the nerdy girl who was dien and put her with the bad boy and shown how one person could change another person. Its also got some really cute scenes on how he helps make her dreams come true. I dunno its just the best for me!

You asked about THE ONE movie but there isn't just one love story and it makes it really hard for me to answer your question. I mean your question about chick flicks was much easier because I could give more than just one answer but this one.... there are so many love stories that have truly touched my heart.
So, I won't answer this question because I don't want to miss out any of them. :)
