Which city is closest to Omaha Beach in France?

I am trying to get there by train from Amsterdam.

Definitely Caen. They have many World War II museums and sites there.

The closest major City is Caen, 52km east from Omaha Beach.

There are many direct trains every day from Paris to Caen (less than 2 hours).

So my advice would be :
- Thalys train from Amsterdam to Paris Gare du Nord
- Train from Paris St Lazare to Caen
- Car Rental in caen

try Honfleur and Roeun, both nice towns not too far from the beachs (less than I hour I think). You will probably still need to rent a car however.
