Because some people like it. I'm married, have sex with my wife whenever I can, and watch porn when I can't. We even watch porn together sometimes. Are we addicted to it? Can we not get it in real life? Your assumptions about what you perceive as negative behavior are pathetic.
People look at porn for the same reason they watch movies of books they've read. Sure, it's great to imagine what things can be like in your head, but to see it in front of you on screen is that much more engaging and stimulating.
By the way, for those of you answering "addiction" - are the viewers of porn addicted before they watch it the first time? If not, then how are they watching it solely because they are addicted? If so, then you're just insane on the premise.

My husband and I watch porn as a learning tool. We do have an excellent love life. Not everyone who watches is a " Perv " etc... We don't watch it all the time and we pick and choose very carefully. We watch what we want to learn. We don't have collections and we are very satisfied with each other. VERY SATISFIED. Hey , If I don't keep him happy someone else might, and visa versa. We have been married since we were teenagers and we are still together and still happy.

As two people begin to know each other more fully as human beings, that is as conscious beings who are defined by their thought, emotions, sense of humor, fears, hopes, etc. etc. etc. they lose contact with that original projection of sexual identity that occurs in the mind.
When you know someone only in a particular social setting or context you still know them only as a function of ideas in your own mind.
Sexually you may have many ideas that have nothing to do with real people, but if you can find someone to fit into that function of desire while serving the same function for them, then the sexual experience is very intense.
Couples can often use the fictional world of pornographic images to recover that sexual arousal of the mind although they have moved well beyond that in their level of personal intimacy.
The pornagraphy essentially helps them revert back to a primitive or elementary kind of interaction to get that sexual arousal that a developed emotional, intellectual kind of interpersonal interaction precludes.

It's part of the getting horny process. U can't do it so u watch it. That's my guess. Either that or to make sex more exciting in a sexual relationship...It's almost like any other sex toy. Sometimes it's educational though. Sometimes they're a form of comedic entertainment. Ask yourself that question after u watch porn one day.

It starts off with the fact that they can't get any in real life. Then it gets to the point to where they are addicted to porn. (Addition to porn has been "proven" to be controlled by the same part of the brain that controls heroin addition.) Then they find themselves in a whole lot of trouble.

Because some people need to fantacize, as thier lives are extremely boring.
Others are social misfits who cant function well in Society.
Others are dysfunctional and cant be mature enough to be with the opposite sex, as they have issues that they havent resolved yet.
While others need a "lift" to thier boring lives and seek thrills that are safe, through fantasy, and the prospect that they can never have what they see, and are dissapointed at having second best...(whom they are with).
