yes if u go to ur ipod options while the ipod is plugged in u can put it on "only update checked songs"

Yes, just dont download w/e songs you want on your library but not on your ipod to your ipod.

Yes, just don't transfer those songs onto to your iPod.

the anwser is yes, however if you check the box referring to updates, it will automaticaly update your iPod when you've added new music to the library, and you can't un-check the box.
