because some people get so involved in the movie, they get connected to the characters. maybe they even imagine themselves in that situation. watching to movie, you see the emotions and happenings that lead up to a certain incident. it can really suck a person in

You really don't understand the reason?
Because some people happen to be emotional and when they watch a movie (even though it might not be real and the source might not be a true story) those emotions come out. I for one, am a very emotional person and I cry during movies and I think it's OK and I do not ask the people who don't cry while they're watching movies:why THE HELL DON"T PEOPLE CRY DURING MOVIES?! The answer is clear, because they don't want to! Maybe it's time to learn to respect each other.

Okay I never used to cry during a movie but then as I got older, I would see movies that contained a more adult themes like based on a true story. First movie I ever cried in was La Bamba becuase of the way he died.
I also cry in movies that I can relate to emotionally, like Armadegdon because I am very close to my father and he has a heart problem and pretty old. So felt her pain when she lost her father.
Now I am not one that makes a big deal when she crys...I just cry quietly so I won't bother others....

Because the goal of a good movie is the "seamless dream" experience where you forget that what you're watching is a movie and instead become completely immersed in the movie world. If the movie has accomplished that, people cry because the situation in the movie, for the time that they're watching it, *is* their reality and plays upon the same emotions that the situation would play upon if it happened in real life. If you've never had the seamless dream experience, you need to watch higher-quality movies.

It is real for the moment. It drives me nuts when people are unable to immerse themselves totally in a movie! When its over you can always go back to stinking reality!

Well some people, mostly girls get very emotional during movies because it might have reminded them of things that might have happened to them or they are afraid it might happen to them. P.S your a guy you probably don't want to deal with emotions

because the movie probably reminds them of something sad in their lives. Why should it bother you anyway? You're not the one doing the crying.
