My lawn mower will not start. If I prime it, it will run for about 3 seconds and die. If I do not prime it it will not run at all.

Could be many things. The easiest: Check the gas tank and make sure there is clean fuel in it. Check the spark plug, make sure it is clean, dry and connected. Then, check the air filter if it is clogged at all, it will cause these symptoms. Then, remove the carberator and clean it with carb cleaner. I've rarely seen any problems go beyond these unless you absolutely abuse your lawn mower. Total cost for doing all this around $7.00.

In that it runs when you prime it, the problem is almost certainly a lack of fuel supply. I would think you might wish to pull the fuel hose and clean it out with a pipe cleaner or compressed air, and take off the air filter and throughly spray the intake with carburetor cleaner in case the jets are clogged.

Its a fuel problem..... first make sure gas is getting to the carb (take the fuel line off at the carb and let it go real quick and watch for a good flow) if thats good, remove the carb and tear it apart and blow it out (through every little hole you can find) good with carb cleaner a few times and compressed air if you have it. Watch out around the inlet needle seat (the inlet needle is what the float pulls up and down) you might blow it out with the air.

Sounds like you might have water in the gas. I would drain the fuel tank and replace it with fresh gas. If the spark plug is bad it usually won't fire enough to start.

OKay , Check the fuel filter, change the sparkplug. Change the spark plug first. Good luck!!!(not all blondes are dumb)

I asked my husband and he said to ask if it has old gas in it? He said a lawnmower won't run good if its got old gas in it, so maybe try some fresh gas???
