God breathed the "breath of life" into man, and caused him to become a living soul. (Genesis 2:7)
*** Animals have the same "breath of life" as do humans. (Genesis 7:15, 22) Numbers 16:22 refers to the Lord as "the God of spirits of all flesh." In Numbers 31:28, God commands Moses to divide up among the people the cattle, sheep, asses and human prisoners captured in battle and to give to the Lord "one soul of five hundred" of both humans and animals alike.

There is no scientific evidence that souls exist, human or animal. Once an animal loses conciousness for the last time, it can be said to be dead. Ditto for humans.

There is a passage in the Book of Ecclesiates by Solomon (a work of pure philosophy) that says that when a man dies his spirit goes up and when an animal dies his spirit goes into the ground.
Reincarnation is some kind of "theological" view. It is false.
Read the first several chapters of Genesis.
The Holy Spirit creates life, and is actively working in all living things to perpetuate life. This is a Biblical teaching.
Animals were created to serve mankind.
The Bible does not say animals go to heaven; I have never found any passage to indicate that. Also there will be no eating of meat for eternity after Judgement Day.

Humans tend to lean towards religion as opposed to the survivalist instincts of animals. A human believes they have a soul because they are capable of thinking to the end of their life span and beyond.
Animals use their resources to the best possible limit and do not focus on the reason they are, or are not...they simple are.
Animals make the most of their environment, adapt better to change, are better equipped physically and mentally to survive and evolve.
Whereas humans are weak, shallow, destructive, and too focused on themselves to become part of the proper checks and balances of the natural world, which is why we see more and more of it being destroyed and natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina are nature's way to thin out our overpopulated numbers.
So in my opinion, humans only have souls because we think we need them to fulfill some part of ourself.
Animals came before us, and will come after us. Dogs, pigs, dolphins, and primates are incredibly intelligent, so I don't believe that argument.
For millions of years dinosaurs ruled our planet. We are not the first, and we are surely not the last. Time has proven that.
All things return to the earth in time. Remember The Lion King. "Gazelles eat the grass, we eat gazelles, and when we die we our bodies become the grass. It is all part of the great Circle of Life."

First rule of Physics, energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only changed. Whether or not humans or animals have "souls" as we know it is debatable and I will only find out when I am dead which I hope is not for a very long time. However, given that energy cannot be destroyed, but merely changed, they must become something else. Maybe the wind? Maybe another animal? Maybe the baby in my womb is carrying the soul of my dead dog Roger.

The first question is "do animals have souls?", because there is enough speculation about the existence of souls in human beings.
If i we say an animal has a soul then we equate the animals t o ourselfs human beings who are supposed to bet the most intellegnet species so i believe that until its proven that animals a intellectually equal to humans, then we could consider the optioan of them having souls and untill then, animals just die like that i guess

G-d Gave us Freedom of choice to do bad or good, & he also gave us permission to eat Animals as long as the animal is slaughtered mercifully in the least painfull way - If the human being is righteous, then he elevates the animal (both flesh & soul) to his level, since he is greater then the animal, however if he is wicked, then he not only does not elevate anything, but he also drags the animal lower (both flesh & soul) since he is lower & worse!

Animals don't have "souls" the way people do.
But there's something in Ecclesiastes about an animal's spirit going into the ground (ie. not Heaven or Hell, like human spirits). I dont' remember exactally where in Ecclesiastes it was, though.

There's not a single scientific evidence on the existence of soul, only believers have it as an important thing.
Besides animals on major religions don't have souls.

Animals do not have a soul, only people, that is what God means in the Bible when He says we are created in His image.... with a soul..... animals were not created in His image.

Animals don't have souls...God put them here....at least some of them to nourish our bodies...As we do the same for them...Mosquito's for example...Okay I know they are insects...but a living thing is a living thing...animals don't have souls...But alot of them care as if they do....Taking care of their young for instance...It would be good if we humans follow their instincts.
