Yes, I think its coming a lot sooner than we think. Global Warming will definitely take out the world or most of it unless we quickly find a way to transition to new energy sources. Its not even necessarily taking out the humans, but species in general. The earth ecosystem is a fine balance of living organisms and more and more things become extinct every day. The more things die, the less stable the environment becomes. Most eras of the earth have been spanned for millions of years. However, the era with humans has not even come close to that and already we have so many problems...

Well, it is believed that if we as human beings haven't killed ourselves off before then, the oceans will begin to evaporate in the year 700,000,000, and if there is life existing there it'll [with the advancement of technology] either manually move the Earth father away from the Sun or leave Earth together in a mass exodus. So, unless Global Warming or dying in the year 2012 is resolved/true, no, I do not believe the Earth will come to an end while any of us are still alive.

Not the world, but it's only a matter of time before man's time on this planet is finished. Man has the capability to change things, but he lacks the intellect. Like Robin Williams says, if man can't eat it or screw it, he'll end up killing it! The only outside possiblility is if an asteroid gets to us first, but I believe that man will have screwed it up long before that! He'll either blow us up, or poison us out of existence--it's only a matter of a little time!!But new and different forms of life will take his place in a few hundred thousand years! One day soon, when we're nearing the end, we'll look back with the utmost of regret and remind ourselves that there WAS SOMETHING we COULD HAVE DONE about it!!

By soon, i assume taking into consideration the time span that the earth has existed for, we really are very close to the end.

Science, religion, flying bunnies, and what have you all confirm to the idea that the Sun will cease to exist and the world will come to an end. Also, we are witnessing increasing numbers of earthquakes, hurricanes, more and more blood shed, etc. Its looking bleak fellas.

No. I think it will be a very long time till it ends. I think there will be another natural disaster that will whip-out most of the planet in the far future. Not the end of the world though.

soon in Galactic time....like when our star collapses and sucks the earth in with it's gravity and implodes the whole solar system.
but as far as time relative to us, no. people may die off soon but that doesn't mean the world will end. there will be many life forms that continue to live once we are gone....unless the atmosphere is destroyed and goes away....then the planet will be basically sterile like the moon.

No way, atleast not for another 5000 years.This is as per hindu tradition as per the vedas, the breat of god.As per this, life cycle goes on for 4 ages.We are in the 4th age, called kali age.This will go for another 5000 and odd years and then by deluge, the universe shall collapse and after so many aeons again the universe shall be created.That's why it is said History repeats itself.HIS STORY GOD's story repeats itself and life goes on and on.This creation, sustenanceand dissolution of the universe is play for god and it is the breathing in and breathing out of god.
