Natural looks better, bright make-up is okay for photos but looks a bit much in real life.

I think the boldest you should go would be a fun eyeshadow. A trick I use in applying makeup is this: If your eye makeup is very bold, then go for a nudeish color on your lips. All of that stuff in the magazines would not look good on an average day person. But if you want to pull off the look, you have to have the attitude that goes along with it. Also, shimmery eyeshadow makes a statement, all the while- makeing your complection great. A lot of the make up that you wear is based on your skin tone, I have an olive complection so when I want to go bold I use eyeliner, mascara, eyelash curler, and a cute eyeshadow. Just do what you thinks looks good, though, thats all that matters!

I think bold is always fun, and always will be fun. But, do you want to look that fun when you go to work or out to the store? No. Save the bold times for night time parties (if you are old enough to go to them) or really special days. For every day wear, stay with what looks best. The more natural you look every day, the better you look.

Also, think of the diffrence between the store and a party. A party wont have the best lighting, people will be drinking, music will be playing and all that stuff. In order to look like you are wearing makeup, you need that bold look to bring it out. But when you go out, everyone can see you just fine so you dont need it.

Also, mag bold is a little too bold. Tone it down a little. Darker lipstick, darker eyeshadow, and more defined eyelashes and eyeliner. But not the extrmes you see all the time in mags.

Also, remember that the people you see on the cover are done up by professionals. It is extremely hard to make makeup look good when it is that bold and exotic. If you arent amazing at putting makeup, dont even think of trying it. You will look like a clown.

Personally I would not follow the magazines. Stay with the simple pastel colours. Pinks look good. Pastel colours always look best and you can never go wrong. However if you are going for a night out on the town and are wearing some really bright colours then I suppose you could as it is in fashion and for nightlife you will blend in. Not too much though. Just experiment at home and see what it looks like on you, maybe get a friend to be honest with you. Have fun!

It all depends on what suits you. Not all the colours used in the fashion photos will suit your particular colouring.

The best thing to do is go for a make-up consultation (The Body Shop does free ones) and find out what colours suit your skin tone. Pick one or two and buy similar shades in a cheap brand of make up (Boots 17 is quite good and cheap). Then you can experiment. Go for more subtle shades during the day, and use the neon brights for evening/going out.

Remeber that fashions change all the time, so always keep your classic look! But you'll never know what will suit you/ you'll like unless you try!

It looks good in a photo shoot, but not in real life!

It is fun to experiment though so don't be afraid of bold color. If you try red lips, just don't put much eye makeup on, a little mascara & a shimmery champagne shadow is really all you need. And if you try a bright colored eyeshadow, make sure it is just a sheer wash of color (not like Mimi on Drew Carey!) Or try using a bold colored eyeliner with neutral shadow. Just stick to a natural lip color. Your everyday look sounds great for everyday, but for night or special occasions, go ahead and try something new!

A lot of makeup artists will do brightly-colored looks for magazines, but they would never do those looks on someone in the real world. The things that work on paper don't always work on the street! I suggest sticking to natural makeup, like what you're wearing now, and adding some "ooomph" for special occasions by INTERPRETING the looks you see in magazines into a more wearable style. Instead of green eyeshadow AND red blush AND purple lipstick AND fake lashes, try doing a bright green eyeliner and black mascara with your regular makeup. This keeps it modern and funky, but not scary!

You have obviously been considering changing to 'bold' makeup so GO FOR IT! Paint your lips bright red and gloss them.False eyelashes and panda-style eyeliner will look great with blue and/or green eyeshadow. Extremely heavy foundation and blush. You will look very pretty!

Natural for day, bold for night, BUT be careful with the bold, don't overdo it! You don't want to look like a stripper. If you go bold with the eyes, do a simple gloss. If you do bold lips, go light on the eye makeup. And never wear to much blush, you'll look like a clown!

Use what looks best on you. Understand that those magazine pictures have professional make-up artists that spend a LOT of time on those models...and then the pictures are often air-brushed. Look up Bobbi Brown on the Internet--she is a make-up artist w/ her own make-up line. She has some great advice--I believe she has written a book too. You have to find a happy medium

Bold make-up is not appropriate in all situations & places & unless it's put on with expertise you will look like a 5 yr old playing with mummies make-up.

The heat affects make-up and the slightest run or cracking of the make-up will be a lot more noticeable in bold colours

Bold make-up can make women look like they sell sex for a living on Hollywood Boulevard or Soho

Most men prefer natural looking make-up, it's much better to make the most of your features and have it look like it's natural
