i think ur dad is rite. probally the reason why its free is either that it really ISNT or its just not the latest version. believe me, get a ds. its WAY better than the sp. the graphics on the sp are pretty bad compared to ds. u might want to think about that.
but if u really want to get it, try compromising. like say, "i promise i will take care of it and i promise that i won't become too addicted." sometimes dads just are afraid u r going to destroy or loose the item quickly. other times dads are afraid you might become addicted and u dont want to go outside or do ur homework properly.

why do you have to sneak around behind your dad's back? You have to pay for it though, so it's time to save that allowance money!

get it yourself,parents will just hold you back from what you want kid.
