I was talking to a latin friend the other day and he brought it to my attention that I have been getting better at spanish. I didn't even realize I was trying to get better.

Yeah, after about nine months of hearing Italian daily, I woke up one morning and realized I could speak it! It was really cool. I worked with Italians during the day, and at night would speak it to my husband, who would have to tell me to switch back to English. Once I got that down pat, I had an easier time with Spanish, some French and a smattering of Portuguese. All this, after never taking a foreign language course before in my life!

That's never happened to me. However, here's something that has happened to me. I speak both English and Spanish. One day I was listening to a radio station thinking that it was in Spanish, when really it was in English. For about a minute, I could not understand what they were saying. It was like they were speaking a language unknown to me, then I realized it was English. My brain finally processed that it was English, and I began to understand what they were saying.
