That depends who you talk to. There are many wrecked ships under the sea in that region, but not really many more than in any stormy, dangerous parts of the ocean.
Many people travel and live in the region. (It covers the area from the end of the Floridian peninsula to Puerto Rico, to Bermuda.) There have been some tragic accidents at sea there, but no compelling evidence that it's weirder than anywhere else.

no weird things, there is massive gas pockets in the sea floor that explode creating large amounts of huge air bubbles, this hit the water surface with enough force to sink a a ship
