on my just built computer after installation of xp, the os said that error occured and needs to be shut down to prevent damage.
underneath that it said check memory, make sure shadowing and caching are off (how do you check?) and then it said

It sounds like your RAM may be damaged and may need replaced.

Well for the shadowing and catching thing you go to where ever the settings for lighting are on your com and find shadowing adjust it however your computer model does so then the same with the catching thing. the tech info i can't help you with though, sorry.

I had the same problem, it turned out to be a bad stick of memory.

I think XP installation has not been done properly. Or this can be because of some hardware misconfigration.

Most of the time is memory, you should test your memory first . The secondary is the harddrive .

Some software program can't stop when u shutdown.You can check it, to remove it.
Another, check your RAM on motherboard.

this is various errors in windows Xp cause by ram or hardware bugs, and i really have this problems.. and i don't found any fix.
