We do not all think we are the best. I am no better than any other man or woman. We all bleed the same. And lets face it, Italy is going to kick the $hit out of the US soccer team. But there are vastly huge differences in the freedoms of the USA and other countries. The USA has many different climates. If you don't like a certain area, you just pack up and move. That's freedom. This country was founded by protestants, but even if you are a Satan worshiper, your rights are protected under the US Constitution. The reason 71% of Europe hates the US is because of one A$$ Clown! Our president. He has made terrible decisions that have made the rest of the world hate us. As Americans we have the right to make a change by voting, and believe me, the American people will make serious changes in our government in 2008. Just give us some time. The American people are not out to make enemies even though our government is. Believe me the American people are just as pissed off at Bush as the rest of the world, but one of the things that makes this country so great is the ability of the people to change our government. By no means does this make us better than anyone else in the world. It simply means that those who have the ability to change things have a responsibility to change things.

americans are nationalistic like most people but they seem to be a little more arrogant to me. I mean how can someone say america is the best when they've never been outside their country, ( some people have but many haven't and say the u.s is the best) many americans don't seem to know much about the rest of the world, some people still can't find afghanistan on a map. America may be rich, and strong, but I believe the people themselves are weak and matiriallistic, america has always been isolated by two oceans and have never suffered greatly in conflicts, which is probably why so many in the u.s. support and take war so lightly. they've never had their cities bombed, or civilians massacred on a large scaled as the rest of the world has.

Hollywood contributes to this. Especially where historical events are adapted to portray an American 'winning the day' where in real life it was someone from another nation altogether.

An insular look on life contributes to this as well. How many Americans can name many other countries around the world? I don't mean this to insult US citizens because I have travelled to the US and like what I have seen but plenty of people there just don't have the facts about issues around the world or issues concerning other countries. Its a big dilemma.

Be honest with yourself when you answer this.....have you taken the time to actually meet an American family and it's members or do you base your prejudice against Americans solely on news footage, commercials and the flaky media portrayal of our "pop culture?" I don't think I am better than any other human however, I do think I like in the greatest country there is and I am grateful for every soldier past and present for they are the ones that sacrificed and made America what it is today....THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!

I've read comments on here that Americans don't bother to learn anything about other people. Don't you get it? America is made up of people from every race, religion, color, and creed! WHAT other country on the face of this earth can claim that?

It's an privilege to live in a country where people can speak their own language, worship their own God, and feel free to offer their opinion without fear of being ostracized. People from all over the world live together in America. We share our cultures and traditions to create a country like no other.

THAT is something to be proud of!

OK yahoo'ers! Are these questions about "Americans" this and "Americans" that getting to be the most worn out questions posed here? And, don't NON-Americans have access to their own forums, boards or chat rooms in their own countries?

If you don't like Americans, what are you doing here? Click away and go to your own chat rooms.....if you have any.

If you've read some of the above comments, you can plainly see who is dogging who.

So, the next time your country needs help or money, who ya gonna call?

Because we are isolated next to a non-competitive (in aspects that we value) county, Canda, and a country we view as inferior in development, Mexico. We believe we are the beacon of freedom, and that more money and ability to waste more resources make us a better place and people. Oh, and every other nation is full of pagans, and we like to use force and guns, so we feel stronger.

So the answer is: arrogance.

1. 'Cause even though a good amount of foreigners act like they hate Americans they can't get enough of the culture, fashion, media, entertainment. 2. It seems that some Americans don't really care to assimulate in an outside culture but to take what they like from it and Americanize it. 3. You think they are or you wouldn't care to take the time to type this silly question. (I can't understand why! Italians Rock! :-P)

yes i agree, we are best of whats on earth so far. in our short history weve done more for the world than all the countries have combined. but thats bc as sinful as we are even we are a real country based on God and love for Him. but countries are ruled by ppl, which is why americans sin but america never has or will sin. the ideals that make our country live on and live strong by those who live them daily. ive lived in many states, and 5 countries all i can say is God Bless America, shes the very best of the best.

weren't not convinced, we just know that a lot of people from a lot of foreign countries want to live where we live, have what we have, and do what we do. When we go to other countries, we see how they want to be near us (our money, I'm sure) and that give us a big head. So really it's not the fault of americans it the rest of the world's to blame.
