Yes, it is so very possible, but highly improbable. There is a draw back to that, though. It takes a lot of knowledge, time, skill, tools, and even money to try to pull this off. The computer does control everything such as the iginition, the fuel pump, the injectors, and much much more. Example: Ford cars and trucks have to have a dealer program the key to the computer to start thr car. That is just the beginning of the passive anti-theft. I cannot disclose any more information on this, sorry.

In short: it is possible. Very difficult. Don't evevn think about it. Remember the Ten Commandments: Thou shalt not steal!

A sophisticated thief can steal any car, any time, anywhere. If the car is very hi tech, the thief just raises the stakes and brings a higher tech to the theft. Some have their own complete ignition systems with them. Breaking the steering lock is easy.

But you have to be good. It's not like in the movies.

Depends on the anti-thieft device(s) on your car. My new GMC Jimmy has a cute little device that won't let the fuel pump run if the car is started in any way other than with the key, so anyone trying to steal my truck won't get more than about 20 feet before running out of gas.

It is also impossible to start the truck by hot-wiring it because the computer does everything, including starting the engine.

Better go back to stealing bicycles.
