In terms of power, where power is measured in money and political leverage, the descendents of the "white" people of the Roman Empire have been, historically, expansionistic and fairly aggressive. This resulted, much later, in the massive British Empire. With the colonization efforts spearheaded in the West, Caucasian peoples came to control many of the world's richest resources.

Despite efforts in recent generations to level the playing field, and the abolition of slavery worldwide (among civilized nations), many white people are still at the top of the power structure. They are not inherently more powerful, nor any better than anyone else... they are just reaping the benefits of thousands of years of expansion and rulership.

We are moving into an age well past colonization, however, and other countries are gaining quickly in terms of power worldwide. China is perhaps the best example. With over a billion people in China alone, and a burgeoning economy, the coming century may well belong to the Chinese in terms of political dominance.

The minute you allude to white power you implies some sort supremacy, the tide turns into the separation of people based on color..It implies a form of fascism. Actually during the Rise of fascims in Europe, the US governement was supportive of the supremacist because it was a good alternative to the Soviet communism ( a nasty form of communism). Thus in the beginning Hitler and Mussolini were welcome. The US only intervened against Hitler when FINALLY, US interests were being attacked by Hitler. ( forget that big ideology of liberating the French and the Europeans) In the US talking about the disparity of race is a big no-no because it would show that if you are white , you are over privileged over the color ones. Television ( even ophrah) tend to try to re-adjust or make beliefs or tries to say that black have equal opportunities in the US. it is a bit like by discoloring THE problem, like some sort of a Michael Jackson white lie upon the society..

The truth is blacks and hispanic are favoured to be jailed in the states, its a form of opression.


People should not forget what colorized crimes the white did
to obtain this supremacy, our champions of human rights and democracy don't have the history to support the championship; it has only false propaganda and make beliefs..

If the white does appear superior; you can always remember that it is because the WHITE used more cruelty toward people of colors. In fact where ever these colored countries were invaded and plundered by the White, it remained poor and democracy in these countries was even harder to obtain,

I've given this a lot of thought on my own and I've come up with two major factors.

The first answer has to do with the fact that white people are white...but why are they white? They're from cold places with little sunlight...places where you have to stay indoors and the only way to pass the time is by pondering. This explains why all the early advances in science are from Europe, and why everyone goes to tropical places on vacation. If you already existed on a serene beach, you're pretty comfortable and are not worried about technology, science, advancement, and larger what's beyond the shore's treeline.

The second factor is that as a result of their pondering, white people are curious, even foolhardedly curious. The people who run towards hysteria and jump out of planes are white people. They're not afraid to be the first at an 'adventure.'

Put the two together and let it evolve. European white settlers weren't afraid to sail around--to get away from miserable weather and the same old boring life--and outwit indigenous people who systematically controlled their own localities. Eventually white success get passed down from one white generation to the next, and before you know it, white people are good at keeping everyone else down.

Lately other people are seeing their time in the sun, and I think this is a good thing. But history won't fail us, as Chris Rock points out:

Shaq's got money, but he's not rich--
the white man who signs Shaq's check is -rich-.

White Privilege... b/c of the systematic disparities that throughout history has been exacerbated by them onto other cultures/races/ethnicities. which yes normally gives a good portion of them more money/political power (through manipulation) too which helps.

Please ignore the defense "I'm not my grandparent's" attitudes, and don't think pitty is good that's just a form of white guilt and it's insulting. Also ignore the answers that come off clearly as defensive (those people still need to work on their personal issues with society, or become more educated about other culutres and world history).

well i think the word we are overlooking is priviledged. there are many kinds of white people, and not all of them rock, there are still poor whites so i believe that they were at the right place at the right time, and have been accepted as smart, but also lucky.
Power is not shared but kept within a particular sphere of inluence, this i the the major reason
