You can get a million answers on this particular question. The thing is you need to choose something you are comfortable in. You need to choose what makes you happier, my husband and I went car shopping today and the weird thing is, at first I chose the new Chevrolet Aveo and he chose the new Pontiac Vibe, in the end we both got Vibes, and we still bought two new Chevrolet Aveo's for our two teenage daughters. It was all in what they liked, and what the better warranty was. We all walked away today with large, happy smiles. So if you choose a Chevrolet, that is great and if you choose a Pontiac, both are good manufactures. Just ENJOY what you buy.

You are joking, right? Chevrolet is Pontiac. They are both GM cars. Cavalier and sunfire is the same car. Same frame except the cosmetics. Under the hood is an identical engine. Just like the Honda Pilot is an Acura MDX. Only $10,000 less.

Both cars are GM cars from the same platform. You will get a few more features on a Pontiac (those features will break sooner) The Pontiac is generally setup with a little more noise insulation and comfortable seats etc. So you will be less likely to notice the downfall of quality like in the Chevy. Since you are comparing used cars ( both are out of production) look for the lowest mileage with the best warranty. The Chevy will be cheaper so you will be likely to get one in better condition (initially) for a cheaper price.

i don't be taught about the 2004, yet I easily have a 1988 Pontiac Sunbird (actual, is a Sunfire - older version) that i have had for 3 a million/2 years - paid in undemanding words $2500 for it and have not had any issues. that is an recommendations-blowing motor vehicle. i purchased my daughter a 1989 Chevy Cavalier very last 3 hundred and sixty 5 days for $a million,000 and back, no issues. Very respectable, on your price range automobiles, both one in each of them, and that i'd purchase both back.

I have an '03 Sunfire. I bought it over the Cavelier because, like other posters mentioned, they're exactly the same except for the looks. I loved the looks of the Sunfire, the Cavelier looked to much like a family car to me.

forget what your thinking. The cavalier and sunfire are flip sides of the same coin. Both are made by "GM", both have approximately the same "msrp" when they were new. Too bad though that those are your choices in my opinion. It's a tough pill to swallow, but sadly, its a proven fact that if you want a quality car, you get what you pay for. And if you wish to SETTLE for an American car, go right ahead. Being in the business for as long as I have, If you want quality, theres no way in the world we come close to foreign automobiles. I may own a "harley davidson" motorcycle, but I wouldn't sell my "93 nissan 240SX" for a brand new "hummer". And if you think I'm lying, park one in my driveway. Cause I'm getting tired of shooting holes in that "caddy" in my backyard.

both are GM cars so you're essentially buying the same car, just different names. cavalier's are now called Cobalt's by the way. cavaliers earned a nasty rep for being crappy cars so GM thought it would be nice to rename them and hope people didn't notice. As far as looks, I say go with the Cobalt SS. but honestly, go get a Honda Civic or Hyundai something. Hyundai's may not be the prettiest cars but they have the best warranty. you'll be thankful of that later on.

I don't have much faith in a cavalier or a sunfire. My fiance is a diagnostic tech and I get to hear everyday what vehicles are junk. Unless you intend on trading it in when the warranty expires I wouldn't either.
