Classics of course, but then i recommend something from one of my all time fave contemporary authors:
Terry Pratchett - comedy fantasy
Sue Grafton & Sara Paretsky - both crime thriller writers with feisty female heroines
Jilly Cooper - upper class English people bonking...!

I recommend books by any of the above!

My all time favourite so far - i'm a bit of a book-worm okay.... make that a lot of a bookworm - is "A Suitable Boy" by Vikram Seth. It's super long and i enjoyed every page - basically it's the story of a mother's search for a suitable husband in India and encompasses some Indian history and culture and the characters were so alive through the pages.

Bible is the best book on earth. It will lead us to our life's glorious end. Western civilization, being superior than all others in the world, is Bible's product.

In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!

I'm reading Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice for the second time right now, and when I'm done, I'm going to see the movie, which I'm told is pretty good. This book has a good blend of wit, "clean" romance, suspense, drama, and plot twists.

My all time favourite book is Cider With Rosie by Laurie Lee. It tells the story of his childhood and is brilliantly written. It feels like poetry.

There are so many good books it's hard to pick one, but I really enjoy "Jitterbug Perfume" by Tom Robbins. Another suggestion would be "The Women's Room" by Marilyn French.
