if the goal of a corporation is to merely make money, do they have to follow any moral guidelines or ethical code?

They need to do what is best for themselves, but part of that is not to kill off their customers. So in that aspect they do have a moral obligation to do what is right... Also as we have found in the past several years that public relations is very important to the will being of a company. So that is also something they need to keep in mind. But other than that there should be no rules or regulation on how a company acts. Because in the end whom will say what those regulations would be. You, me.....?

It is suggested that companies must have a code of ethics in order to ensure that the consumers (the people they make money off of) benefit from their products or services without being affected negatively. To say that corporations or even small businesses do not need to follow such a guideline is irresponsible for the companies themselves and to the public.
