If the computer can still connect to the internet, reboot into safemode with networking (tapping F8 during initial boot), log in with the admin account, Download Ewido (good at removing trojans) Spybot S&D (good for removing spyware and browser hijackers) and once scans are completed with those follow it up with a scan from Trend micros house call (scans for viruses and spyware).

If you can find out what the computer is infected with then do a google search on it. This may present other removal methods.

Spybot does nothing for a virus but some spyware can hijack homepages so try that first, it's free.

If it is a true virus or worm, your virus program may not have been correctly setup and not updated itself correctly

You need to keep it off and take it to a computer shop. If you have a local "geek squad" (yellow pages), they are good and I believe they come to you.

If it is a virus, do not use it, you can make it worse.
