Well, in the U.S. at least, it's Fathers Day, but that's not a "legal holiday".

Yes, today is Father's Day. This is the day for everyone who has a father to appreciate him, and everyone who does not to appreciate whatever surrogate father or fathers you have. My own father died years ago, but my friend Bob, my neighbor upstairs, is father to me every time he thinks about my well-being, asks if I need anything from the store, volunteers to give me a ride somewhere, and generally expresses his concern. That is, after all, most of what a father is.

That some fathers seem more like a wallet than anything else is the fault of the kid as much as the father. If you only pay attention to him when you want something, you will find he can only take the hurt so often. He will open his wallet or not, but it's his heart you want open, believe me.
