mix boric acid with milk enough to make a paste in an old jar lid. Put where ever you see ants. Be sure pets or small children can't get to it. You can buy boric acid at any co-op. It's very poisonous so be careful around food and be sure to wear rubber gloves. Ants should be completely gone in a few days. I did this and it worked. Not only on ants but other bugs also. I hope this helps.

Have just the thing for you. Go the Wal-Mart that's where I went or other places that carry bug spray items. What I bought (brother told me about this) was an outdoor and indoor spray that I think was about a gal. container with a small hose pump attached. Sorry, can't remember the name, but don't think you'll have a problem finding. Pump first then aim and shoot. It comes out in a straight line so you can get a better aim. What I did, was I started on outside of our house, around the foundation just before foundation hits the ground. Didn't take long at all. Went around entire outside of house. Then went inside and did the same thing. Don't worry about carpeting or baseboards. It will not hurt. It's also pet friendly, so no worry there either. Since I was on a roll, went back outside and did the same around our rap around deck. Don't forget door ways. Also did lower level (living quarters/basement). Little buggers get everywhere. The stuff is a miracle ant killer. Even got a bonus with the stuff. No more "daddy long legs" or other spiders out on the deck. Could finally sit out there and not worry. Hate spiders! You will make your mother very happy. She'll give you a big hug and a kiss thrown in. It's so simple and it's something that actually works. Don't know where the little buggers are coming from, they just appear Haven't had problems last two years only because we have had drought conditions. A lot of rain would be nice. Still glad where I live, North Wood of Wisc. Don't even have to say Good Luck, because it's going to work. Look for Pest Control in garden section.

Bill Zack or somebody on a garden radio show gave a recipe with brown sugar in it to eliminate sugar ants a few years ago. Search for this receipt. Sugar ants are very hard to eliminate but this recipe works (per the show). Sorry I don't have the recipe. I don't think it had an insecticide in it, just organic ingredients.
If they are other kinds of ants then you need to look for the source. Fire ants will tunnel up the outside of your foundation and nest in the walls. Find the bed outside and use a good product to eliminate it. Clean off the foundation and weep holes in the bricks as well as you can. I recently had this fire ant problem.

I'm sure someone will hate this answer - but I still think Raid is the best thing I've ever used. ANY place I've spraid Raid hasn't gotten ants for a year afterwards...
I spray it and then 20 minutes later when they're all dead I clean it a couple times with disinfectant and such to try to get rid of the chemicals.
Also - you could just spray around the corners and the holes where they can get into your home.

I had a similar problem. The best hing on the market at the moment is Dethlac. It is an aerosol and you spray it on the known ant trail, or towards the bottom of your skirting boards and in fact anywhere you think they may be getting. It lasts up to 3 months. I also use Nippon gel along side of this. I no longer have a problem. The 2 products together are absolutely top drawer. Try them & good luck with the problem.

You can put out any poison in what form or shape, but it is never going to be 100% effective unless you keep your kitchen CLEAN!!! You guys are not used to the warmer weather, but in countries with a warm climate you have no other choice as to sweep your floors and clean your table and work surfaces EVERY TIME you have prepared or eaten food. Sorry, seems very fussy, but it is the only effective way to get rid of ants. Ever guessed why in all those warm countries where you go on holiday, all floors are tiled??

Its the warm weather. I had this exact same problem last week. I got this stuff called "ANT STOP!" Check first to see where the ants are coming from and put this spray all around your kitchen, kitchen door and all of your exit doors in your house. This will definitely get rid of the ants (mine haven't come back again so far). I hate killing living creatures but you cant have a kitchen-full of ants afterall.

I think the first thing you need to do is realize you can't leave food out on the table or the counters. In the warmer months, I keep everything in the refriderator, even my fruit! The second thing is, you need to keep the countertops and table clear of crumbs, and sticky spots. Then, you can just put the little ant cups right on your countertop, away from any little hands. Good luck!

If your ant powder is not working, you could always take some irish dance lessons and practice in the kitchen wearing BIG SHOE'S. If that does'nt squish em you might scare the B'JESUS outta them....lol
SERIOUSLY...make sure your ant powder is all around the outside walls...hope you get rid of them.

It's not fair that we call this a bad house keeper. It does not matter how good you clean they will still come and if they want to came in they will come in. My mother-in-law is the cleanest person I know. and she kept ants all because she liked her towels with fabric softener. they would cove her linen closet. So i don't think there is a solution to your problem. just something temporary I like the grits which really works. And if you have them in the yard the best thing that I have used is Gas for outside.
