I dont know if this is your style....but I'm really getting into British Rock now, up and coming bands from England. My faves are The Futureheads and Idlewild, and some more famous ones....Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand.
Check them out! They are good.

I'm still learning about non-mainstream music, so I'm not sure what "underground" means. However, if you're referring to independent music, I recommend exploring music on myspace.com
I've found music there by bands who're just starting up, and I really like being able to sample their music and promote it on my profile.
