The Royal Road--in early California history when the Missions were being established, there was a line of them up and down the entire coast, and it came to be known as "the King's highway", El Camino Real en Espanol! Literally, however, it means the Royal Road.

It translates to "the king's road" or the "royal road", to the best of my knowledge. Do you reside in southern California? The street that runs through a great percentage of southern CA is called "El Camino Real". Hopes this proves helpful.

real is a spanish word meaning royal in spanish e is always pronounced like the ay in day and a is always pronounced like the a in cat the emphasis of any word in spanish is almost always on the second last vowel so real is pronounced like RAY-al just think of two guys called ray and al eating some ice-cream and ray is very slightly stronger than al :)
