There is a product called Safer-Soap. It is a spray made of fatty acids and not insecticides. You can use it the same day of harvest. It is very easy to use and you can get it at any home and garden center. You will probably need to repeat it every week through out your season. It also helps a great deal to shower your plants when you water.Be sure and water early enough in the day that you will not burn your plants from the hot sun and the moisture will be off the plants by nightfall.
I have not had much luck with pepper sprays. I do use crushed mint to keep away critters but I do not think it would work on caterpillars.
Good luck with your tomatoes
God Bless

Take a bulb of garlic and 2-4 very hot peppers. Run them through your blender with 2 cups water. Let sit overnight. Strain well and add 2 more cups of water. Put in a spray bottle and spray away in your garden. All bugs and critters hate garlic and hot peppers. One bite and they leave it alone. Some just smell and leave. Re-apply after a rain. Keeps for 2 weeks in the refrigerator. Hope this helps.

Liquid Joy diluted in water and sprayed or sprinkled on the plants several times a week. Hope that is natural enough for you. Otherwise any type of natural liquid soap.

If you do not want to use powders etc., try this very old one that we used to use for cabbages, it may work for tomatoes: boil a lot of lettuce and let the liquid cool. Spray it on the tomatoes. Apparently, they hate lettuce and in fact I doubt if you have ever seen a Caterpillar on a lettuce................
