I'm only 15, but I've been though alot of things a 15 year old shouldn't have to deal with...my dad had a stroke and it was very difficult...but I still don't think I'm an adult.
I honestly think, it wont happen at any given time, one day, you be going about your buisness and you'll just realize that you've matured, and are a responsible adult.
I have to say that while my dad was in the hospital, and even still now every so often, I feel alot older than I am...I don't think age has much to do with becoming an adult, but that it has more to do with the experience gained...
Congrats, and God bless.

18 does not = adult. There's a point when you have to take all responsibility for your own actions & even others, when you have to work very hard to ensure your well-being & possibly for others lives too. When you are forced to "grow-up", make adult decisions & take on adult responsibilities. And when you give up yourself & your time, for the happiness of your loved ones or another, that is when you are an adult. I've seen 10 year old "adults" & I know 48 year olds who haven't become one yet, or maybe never will. Do you understand what I mean?

I first realized I was an adult at 18, but it's not about the age it's about the responsibility. At 18 I rented my first apt. Had a full time job, paid all my own bills including car payment and car insurance. Voted and payed taxes. Every decision I made was adult. That's when you know your an adult no matter what age it happens.

I felt like I was an adult when I had a job; a checking account; I had bills in my own name and I paid taxes. Responsibility makes you feel like an adult not age. Some people are 30 and still don't feel like an adult and some people feel like that at 16-17.
I think moving out of your parents house is another thing that will make you feel like an adult.

Eighteeen is just an age. I realized I was an adult when my first child was born. That will make you grow up in a hurry. My wife and I had this little human to take care of and raise and I had to take everything I did after that seriously. If I failed, then this tiny angel I helped bring into the world would get hurt. I made a decision to grow up; and I did it in a single day.

Being 18 is just a number. You can be adult at 18 or still a child when you're 58. It was when my husband and I had our daughter and I really realized for the first time I was responsible for someone other then myself.

I knew I was an adult when I chose to be responsible for the needs of someone else besides myself. For me, I chose to be responsible for my unborn daughter. For others, they may care for a parent, a sibling, a friend in dire need, or a gf/bf or spouse. So when you choose to step into a position where someone else's very life depends on you, that is when I think you are truly an adult.

Though I'm in University and take care of myself, at least partially, I feel like a teenager and I hope I will never understand myself as an adult. At least by mentality.
It's better not to grow up entirely, only in things you have to.

I first realized I was an adult when I came back home to visit my parents and they talked with me and joked with me just like I was one of their adult peers. It was a revelation to me.

I reliazed that I felt like an adult when I had my first son. The second week my family just quit coming over and I had this little person that I was reponsible for. He depended on me for his life. Very grown up.
