Yes, they are very collectible and the older nickels, dimes and quartes are made of silver.


The rare ones that are worth $50 or more...
1955 penny without straps.
1926 nickel far 6.
1953 nickel without strap, near leaf.
1953 nickel with strap, far leaf.
1913 dime large leaves.
1921 half dollar.
1947 half dollar , maple leaf.
1948 half dollar.
Any dollar from 1936 to 1955.

Many 1920's Canadian coins are worth in the $20 range.

Sure, there must be. Its value would depend not only on how rare it is, but what condition it is in. The less wear & tear on the coin, the higher its value.

Best bet is to go to a hobby store and purchase a booklet that lists the value of specific coins and their price for each condition. If none of those books are in stock, then a coin dealer should be able to evaluate the coins for you and let you know if they hold any significant value.

i know there is a dime from 1969 that is really rare and is worth around $10,000. the reason it is rare is the date is printed in a different size than the regular minted dime that year...
