because they should til its gone for the most part. if a black guy calls himself, african-american. thats fine, no one else has to. pride and heritage are for the individual. im not discounting him and im not holding him up in praise bc of where he was born.
ml king sd it well as many have, let us be judged by the content of our heart not the continent we hail from. theres no such thing as dual citizenship in america. other countries do it, but america recognises US only. so if your mom and dad are americans and you were born in europe. you can get a citizenship of that country, but youre automatically a us citizen. so no afreakn american, or azn american or honky american for me. if you want to be then be so for you, the american constitution and civil rights bill protect us from discrimination. they dont hold us accountable to acknowledge anyone at all, let alone their heritage. let's lose sexism 1st. racism will fade shortly afterward, honest injun! God Bless!

The politicians like to keep it stirred up to win votes from the ignorant. Because it was such an important thing in the past and so many politicians cannot seem to find anything forward-thinking to run on, they keep racism stirred up so they can have something to "solve" for you.

When all Americans can tell them to take a hike and ignore the rhetoric, we'll be waaaay ahead.

Not sure what your point is with american title thing since there's racism all over the world where all french, austrailians, english, asians, canadians don't love each other and all races. It's a human thing, even if we all looked alike there will always be some crap for us to fight about. This planet was not built one absolute thought, we have different ideas, thoughts, philosophies...needs. I personally think it adds pride of your culture and family when you recognize your background yet have a strong sense of self where no class, race or sex can threaten your identity and beliefs as you live, entertain, mate or work among rares.

Some people just can't allow themselves to do this - only though debasing others, violence, force or influence. It's sad, to always be this long melodrama fight with yourself and the world. I'm not saying love each and sing We are the world but have respect and tolerance for others and who they are. I think this is hard sometimes for humans because we think of us first and sometimes there is a rabid sense of survival of self and protection that beats in our heart.

to the sexist part, most sexist things are started by the people being discriminated against to tell you the truth

ex:
women want to be equal to men but don't want to do the same things, i'm not saying all are like this but the majority i have met and talked to about it think like that
in pe, women do WAY less, but then when it comes to running women are proven better runners anyways! men statistically do more pushups but women seem to want to be considered equals in that
women are statistically better swimmers at young ages than men so the times for awards are adjusted
but not when men are better than women for SOME OF THE TIME, and same when women are better than men, it is adjusted SOME OF THE TIME

to the racist stuff:
it's usually started over just stupid stuff
when new orleans happened, kanye proclaimed it was because the majority was black,
there were a lot of whites there but that doesn't matter, because there were blacks there!
who cares if the FEMA director was a fraud and didn't know what he was doing

if the black dude was picked before the white kid, it's automatically racist, even if the black kid is better than the white kid which is statistically proven more probable
it's still racist

usually people only resort to racist names though when their mad though...
but it often gets started over dumb stuff like that

It'll never stop.
The human race is driven by competition. There will always be a sect to pick on. It was women, blacks, asians, latinos, homosexuals, the poor.....etc etc.
There will always be something like this going on.
Is that right? No, but that's the way it is.
And it's not particular to certain races.

weaker races, I won't mention them. Love using the race card because they are too lazy and stupid to achieve anything on their own, they want everything handed to them. Again Ii'm not going to say what race but I'm sure it's quite obvious lol

Racism isn't going away, my friend. It's alive and well. And growing! I get all warm inside just thinking about it. :-}
