Or does it have to be 6 months to a year for baby to get the benefits and immune strengthining? Just curious because I pumped breastmilk for my baby girl for 5 months because I was uncomfortable with actual breastfeeding, but I wanted her to still have some. Was it even worth it?

There are absolutely benefits!! First of all, your baby is alive. There is no way to know for sure, but she *could* have been one of the 8000 babies who die every year in the US from not getting human milk. She didn't die of SIDS (and the highest risk is from ages 2-4 months). Her immune system is 5-months-worth-of-human-milk stronger. Maybe it will prevent her getting breast cancer when she's 40 or 50. You'll never know for sure because you can't go back and raise her differently and see what changed...

Any breastfeeding at all is better than not. You can continue to give her some occasional breastmilk mixed with formula here and there is you still want to give her the added nutrition. Breastfeeding is great for YOU and your baby. It reduces the chance of getting breast cancer while giving your baby everything she needs to boost her immune system, not to mention other awesome benefits like great teeth and higher IQ.

Your milk is THE BEST food for your baby. The National Pediatric association recommends to breastfeed for a year during this time you keep you baby protected from any illness. The world association of pediatrics recommend to breastfeed for 2 years... Yes 2 years . There is no shame in breastfeeding is totally normal and a time of bounding between you an you baby she can hear your heart beet and smell you look into your eyes and will teach her that you are there for her. DON"T STOP BREASTFEEDING . is the best for your baby.

Yes, yes, yes! Every single tiny drop of breastmilk your baby gets is good for her! Good for you for giving her breastmilk despite your comfort level of actual breastfeeding. Your baby did benefit! And if you still have milk and you are still up for pumping, by all means continue, but if it's done and overwith, please feel comfortable with your decision. By ALL means, it was worth it.

Of course there are benefits!!! Any amount is great for them. My first I only pumped for three months after that I stopped producing and she wouldn't latch on. My doctor told me that children benefit from it even if it is only a month. The longer the better of course. But any amount is great!!!

Absolutely it is worth it. They really need it for the first three months. Many babies self wean at 5 months as they begin to get more independant. You can continue to pump as long as you want. It will help you as well. It will help you to loose weight and decreases your chances of breast cancer.
