I have been trying to look it up in the government pages, yellow pages and even on the internet with no luck. Someone had told me they "protect" renters, and advise them on certain things. Particularly when they are possibly getting ripped off by a landlord/rental company.

Just to clarify, I am looking for rentals as in apartment or home rentals, as in me being the renter living in the home. The first link seems to be more for a company in business with rentals. This is the info I got from the site as to what they do: "The American Rental Association is the association for the $31 billion rental industry. Whether you are a rental store owner or a manufacturer or supplier of rental equipment, ARA offers the resources -- people, products, services and information -- you need to be successful in today’s competitive market."
