one of the best is definitely Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas- hunter s Thompson
2 good kind of obscure books are Altered States- paddy Chayefsky
and (forget the title, but it might be his only book)autobiography about going schizophrenic
by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. (yes the son of Kurt Vonnegut)

The best book that I ever read was Would I Lie To You by Trisha R. Thomas. It is like a work with pleasure kinda thang going on. Made me "wet" when I was reading. Hope you try it out.
