I don't think age or grade matters (at least it didn't matter when I was in 8th grade, that was 8 years ago).
The average stops at 60 words per minet, above that is above average, job places perfer ppl to type 68 words or more per minet...usually...

I think around 50-80 words per minute would be ABOVE average for a 12 year old.
Go to http://www.typingtest.com and try and see what your average is. I think the average for junior high school students are around 40 words per minute. If you can get over 40, then youre doing an excellent job.
