Dress consevativly. Reasearch the company, This can be done on the internet, but you should also call the company, talk to the receptionest and find out who the hr person is, Try to get extentions for others who work at the company that you may get info from.. Back to what to wear, it all depends on where you live and what you look like. A dress, not to short and no open toe shoes. If you have nice legs then don't wear nylons, if your legs aren't that great, wear light colored nylons. You didn't say what kind of company that you are seeking employment with, that matters;

I work in a law office. So my perception of proper attire is something on the conservative side that shows that you have good social awareness, confident in who your are as a business professional, and you know that you have the skills to do the job.....as opposed to some applicants who are not accustomed to show-casing their intellect, but hope that an approach that leans more towards sexyness will serve their purpose more. I believe that your job search must also take into consideration that you want something that 'fits you' in addition to fitting into the company. If a boss would choose you for your flirtatious looks, in the long run it probably won't be what you're looking for in the way of career opportunities. Good luck. I often think it's also good to go the the business center or professional building where you seek to apply, for instance during the lunch hour, and take note of how the employees are attired who are already there. It may give you some ideas.

A 3-peice suit is not necessary but you should wear a suit none-the-less. A dress with a matching jacket or a skirt with a matching jacket. Clean shoes (no sandals) with a modest heel, no scuff marks and no worn down heels. Your purse or a briefcase would be appropiate. If a purse is carried, match it to your shoes. Clean, short fingernails are a must. Nail polish is not necessary. Keep make-up to a minimum. Hair should be neatly groomed. A boss looks for eye contact, a pleasant smile and a firm handshake. Do not giggle, look down or away. Have a can do attitude and be sure to ask the boss questions, such as why is the position open, when do you need me to start, how long has the company been in business, etc.

I'm 37 years old and have been on interviews and have given interviews both and was very surprised at everything that I did not know! If not, then here are a few recommendations: it is best to wear dark colors. Black, navy, dark gray. Solid colors. Pants or a skirt. Red for a shirt is also acceptable now, darker red, preferably, it's considered a "power" color now.
One ring, a watch if you like, no bracelets, one pair of earrings if you prefer but post or something small. Keep the attention on you. A firm handshake. Take your resume with you even if you have already sent one in. I could give you alot great tips really. My class was really insightful. Like I said e-mail me if you like. Whatever you decide. BTW, research the company. Know what they are about. Greet the interviewer by name. Keep eye contact.

The more professional the better. Many interviewers will tell you the receptionist is really the face of the organization, so you can't really lose by dressing in business attire and looking as professional as you can.

Do you have any idea how other people in this company dress?
Usually it would be wise to go in a nice suit. By this I mean a nice pair of pants with a jacket over a blouse.
If you go with a skirt, I wouldn't go with anything above the knee and wear the appropriate shoes with the outfit.
Use your good judgement and I'm sure you will be fine.

I would suggest a light weight pretty dress and small heels The most a boss looks for is honesty and being yourself As for a receptionist be outgoing friendly and smile a lot people really like that and good luck with your job be positive and your sure to get it

Go to the business where you wish to apply and see what the current receptionists/ secretaries are wearing. If this is not possible, then go to a similar office/ business and make note of what they are wearing. Then dress accordingly. Take an active role in your research and maintain a positive confident attitude. Good luck.

You could wear a skirt (not too short!) with a nice blouse or some other kind of shirt.
Dress slacks (not jeans) with a nice top.
Nothing sleeveless. Luckily I don't have to tell you to cover your belly! :)
Just look very nice. Where I work, I've seen people come in for interviews in cut offs, shorts, jeans, tank tops, t-shirts... and they're not always clean! Amazing.
You're 36, I'm sure that you'll do just fine picking out the right outfit! Good luck.

My advice would be to go dressed as a rabbit , and make sure , instead of a briefcase , you carry a huge bunch of carrots . The interviewer will definately remember you as you will stand out from the rest . Also answer every questions with a twitch of your nose and a 'what's up doc' or similar phrase . At the end ask him the square root of a negative number and if he gets it wrong tell him you dont't want to work for him .
