I would have to say I believe in equality for all, if you're gonna do Mother's Day, then you better do the Father's Day. Just because it isn't commercialized to be a spender's weekend doesn't mean that it should be ignored (while I'm on that topic I'll throw in my little rant about the noticable lack of celebration of Memorial Day in my area). My personal thoughts on holidays in general though--"You don't need to give a specific day to a person to make them feel special, what you need to do is give of yourself during the times you are with that person."

Father's day is there to make up for Christmas. Christmas is for kids and then Mom has Mother's Day. Why not a Father's day? It's a good time to think about what an ungrateful brat you were to your father if you had one around. The greatest problem is that we usually don't show much appreciation for our fathers.

Most men try to keep their feelings inside,it's the "man thing"...so at fathers day they do not really act as if they care,or should be awarded for doing the things they do to help the family unit.It does not however mean that they do not want some recognition for their contribution. In most cases they receive socks.or under ware......I think the vast majority of dads would be satisfied with a heart felt thank you....to call it "cheesy" is one thing, but to not care enough to do anything is just plane abuse.Shame on you...........

I do NOT celebrate Mother's Day or Father's Day. Crappy parents. My daughter (age 22) said that Mother's Day for us is any day we have a good day together. She still likes to hang out, go shopping, go to the movies, travel, etc. with her old Mom.

both Mother's and Father's day are so that the little brats they are raising can show some appreciation for a change. rarely works, but it's a nice thought... LOL

Hey! I love my dad jsut as much as Mom. More, actually. I think it's because why give your dad flowers and crap? That's all commercialism to guilt-trip you. I think they're tying to discount Father's Day because lots of families are fatherless. All the more reason to support the dads that are there!

Yes. I think there should be a father's day and a mother's day for that fact. If it werent for fathers and mothers, you wouldnt be here. Celebrate them!!!

I think you are only speaking from your experience. This is not true for me and I think lots of families celebrate the contribution of fathers.
