I agree with the foster care option. You should really look into it. You may not get the "baby" you were hoping for, but you will get a child. What greater reward is there in giving a child a loving home?

Can you have a child of your own? First off, if you are a woman it's easier to have a child independently. Many feminist women in NZ do it literally via a turkey baster and a "donation" of sperm from a male friend. If you have waited too long to have a child such that you have age-related infertility, then this is a problem.

Adopting only gives you another womans' child to raise, and adoptees often go back to their real parents after they're raised and adoption agencies won't tell you about this -- how strong the 'blood-bond" is.

I hope you can conceive a child of your own. It's the best way and literally is free if you have a male friend you can trust to answer your child's questions once they arise (and they will!).

My husband and I are going through the adoption process right now.

We are choosing the foster to adopt option, and desire older children.

But what is funny is that all the children we've been submitted for this month are 18 months old or less. There's even a 3 month old baby we have a really good shot at.

Foster to Adopt is little to no cost. My state even has waivers to cover the $200 legal fee to finalize.

The sad reality is that a lot of babies are in the system now, because foster parents (some, not all) don't want to take them in, because the subsidy they receive for them does not cover hardly any of the expenses of an infant. *sighs*

Contact your local Human Services and see what they think.

If you can't afford an adoption on your own, maybe you can't afford the child either. Can't you save up? Get a loan? What about foster care? I've known people who've done that and the government pays YOU, not the other way around. Or do you have something against foster children like most people do (which is why they spend their entire lives in the system)?

Adoption is rather pricey...as with a child the expenses are spread out this all up front. However, there are sometimes options or help with this financial burden. Ask about assistance, foster care may be a good alternative but can sometimes be very emotional.

If you can't save up over a few years for In-Vitro or adopting how do you expect to have enough money to raise a child. They ain't cheap you know.

Have you tried looking into becoming a Foster Parent. They're a lot of children in need of a good home.

You could be a foster parent and I *think* but don't quote me on that, that they will let you adopt for free or cheaper than usual.
