Oh this is completely normal. Don't worry. He eats his own poo to get all the nutrients and goodness back from the food he has eaten. I know....sounds totally unbelievable doesn't it?? all hamsters do it. Some stop doing it when they mature a bit older. This is what it is so do not listen to all the stupid answers some people have given you.

It's perfectly normal. Hamsters, and some other animals, will eat their own feces to get nutrients they missed out on the first time around. Its a fairly common practice in the animal world, called coprophagy. So it seems gross to us, but is very normal for your hamster, and all hamsters do it.

He's missing a nutrition he's not getting in his food. Try feeding him fruits and veggies, but don't leave them in the cage with him for long they will mold. Best thing is to take your hamster out of his cage and put him in a box and feed him messy things in there. Like veggies and stuff.

Well maybe its hungry, and poo is still food but excessed..so it's still considered food. Your hamster just takes poo as food.=]

He is lacking in some sort of nourishment. Try purchasing a very good Hamster food for him that ensures a well balanced meal!

he is suffering from depression and loneliness and you urgently need to find him either a companion which may be too late as they have a tendency of eating each other or find him some new play things and molly coddle him a bit more.
