I took Spanish in high school, but I don't really enjoy it. I either want to take French, Mandarin or Arabic next year. I will probably be a businessman so I am wondering which language will be the most useful? China is a rapidly growing power, so I thought Mandarin may be useful, but on the other hand French is good to know (especially in the fashion business) because so many people speak it. Which language do you feel would be most useful in this day and age in business?

I agree with the person above me, finish Spanish or at least get better at it if you are not already good. Plus, how can you not enjoy Spanish? I'm thinking maybe it was your high school teacher or class or work that you didn't enjoy. Spanish is a great language. Anyways, after Spanish, I say probably Mandarin since you are going into business and U.S. does a lot of business with China/the Orient or French if fashion (but will you do business in France or design there?). I don't know how Arabic could help...

1. Spanish
2. Mandarin
3. French
4. Arabic

... This is what I think... As long as you know English, you're ahead of the game.

... Also, don't listen to "dancing_in_the_hail." Damn pessimistic liberal!

Spanish is a very good language to know living in America. Being bilingual in many jobs can boost your pay as well. However this just really depends on what language would help you out in YOUR future.

Either Mandarin or Arabic are your best choices. Hate to break it to ya, but you have a snowball's chance of being successful in the "fashion business"....especially in France.

Spanish is always useful, since we Americans love to provide translators to illegal immigrants at the taxpayer's expense!

Don't take it in college unless you enjoy it. French sounds really cool.

French is spoken in: France, Martinique, a bunch of african countries, Belgium, and Canada.
