I HATE That Word SO Much!!!

I never thought much about that word. If an author uses a word or phrase too often, it will alert the reader. If there is a character that uses the word or phrase many times, and the author wants that character to do so in order to portray the character in a certain light, that is one thing. Yet, it is entirely another matter when the author can't make use of a thesaurus. Like I said, I never thought much about that word, but I would imagine I would wind up hating any word used to extreme.

It depends on the character that uses it... if the character is a queen, it is OK... but I don;t enjoy the word. But if the author is clearly using it to be smart, I HATE IT! I also hate books who's authors have a word they use too much. Writers are supposed to be CREATIVE! Ever heard of a thesaurus? Seriously, I picked up a book who's first sentence was: I was happy that night. on my right was Bridget, my left Hannah. We were all Happy with who we were, at the time. The stars winked happily at us."
As you can imagine, I put the book right back down!

Yeah, totally, I hate it when writers try to get above themselves in terms of language. Why use a four-syllable word when a two syllable word would do just as well.
