well it matter what the shoes material is but from flip flops or cloth shoes you can us tooth past or some type of moth wash. bleach is you think it wont kill your shoes (but don't use to much) or after they get dirty from that day you could take a wet cloth or something and try and get it to come off.

I've had that happen..It's because u perspire a lot...and obviously, white is the easiest to get stains on them..i suggest u dont wear them unless absolutely neccessary...if the outfit calls for them, go ahead girl!...but if it can be avoided, then save them...dont put too much lotion, that causes sweat

just scrub them with a little clorox bleach and spray them with a shoe sealant that you can find at khols department stores. if they're like 1 dollar flip flops don't even bother lol

Don"t buy white in the first place! side wall tire cleaner, or armor all is the best cleaning products for any type of white gym shoe or sandel

Well they are bound to get discolored, but I guess you could try to put some sort of laquer (polypropolene) or such on them to protect them.
Never heard of the below applied to flip flops, but who knows:

try coating your flip-flops with clear nail polish. put it on and let it dry. u may need to use 2 coats...but really 1 should be enough
