the americans are ***** at football and if you realised how fifa judge the ranking system they use you wouldn't be stating that they are ranked 5th at every opportunity. america play the likes of canada and a lot of non european teams, now because they are not meeting any competition they are getting decet results, put the americans up against the real teams in the world and believe me you would not qualify . And they assaulted italy silly last night. Yes the italian deserved to be sent off but so did all the yanks

I know what you're saying Neilman, but Americans like "American" football...basketball and baseball are dwarfed by the ratings and merchandise sales of American football.
As far as being underestimated, we're always going to be until we come out and play a game we keep all 11 players on the field, score multiple quality goals, play strong on defense, and play consistent game to game...until then we'll always be a ''fluke"

Anyone else notice how this question seems to be turning into a message forum? And how it's mostly Italians? BTW, if watch that game, the US had a guy there that could have put that ball in but he stopped and let it roll in anyway. I would have done the same. Let the defender get embarrassed and mess with his head. See? Now you got me doing the forum thing!!

They are ranked 5th right now but I think World Cup experience is missing. They'll do better in the future, especially if they can bag Juergen Klinsmann as a coach.

I think the USA were over rated at FIFA #5 coming in to the WC.
They have some good players but need a better Coach.

Because they havnt really proved anything.... Maybe if they win some games on the world stage or make it to atleast the quarters maybe they'll be recognized as contenders!

Well we were ranked 5th because we didn't have to fight many of the "major" teams, but people tend to underestimate us because we have a tendency to not "jell" well together.

beleive me nobody cares about a quarterfinal run. but the you got a point about the italy tie.
plus, the ref messed up at th usa-ghana game.
