Yes. Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty-six." (Revelation 13:16-18 RSV)
A tremendous amount has been written about the Bible's one and only reference to the mysterious number "666." Using various methods of equating numbers with letters of words or names, a wide variety of interpretations have been made. A few are reasonable guesses (e.g. Nero Caesar, Romulus, Lateinos, Vicarius Filii Dei), while numerous others are extremely unlikely.
Although it's not entirely clear, yet, what the "666" itself means, the Bible does provide many Scriptures relating to the "beast" that the number represents:

Of course I believe in the number 666, otherwise I would be stumped when I come to answer questions like "what is 111 times 6"

The Book of Revelations 13: 16-18: He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to recieve a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except the one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.
Let me explain you this. The person who will be the antichrist will have political, economical, social and religious power of the entire world. And when Jesus, the son of God take his church with him, the persons who stay in earth will pass for the Great Tribulation. You won't be able to buy or sell anything if you don't have the mark of the beast: 666.

Yes. It is a real number. I have 666 in my birthdate. It is not engraved on my scalp but I was born in sin. While it stands to represent the mark of the beast, there are many beasts out there that are unmarked. Maybe it is a reminder to mankind that good and evil both exists. Decide which side you want to be on. Hopefully you choose Jesus.
Yours truly

How can you be Christian and NOT believe it's linked with the devil! yes i do believe in it's meaning, but i don't go into it to what i consider too far! which is to believe that 6/6/6 was to be a horrible day (which it was actually a quite pleasant day for me)! i believe that the significance of 666 will come to pass during the time of tribulation (which i don't plan on experiencing). i believ it is the number of man/the beast as the Biblie says. i also believe that if you call yourself a christian but do not believe in the Bible as a whole, word for word, cover to cover, then you are not a true christian and you should be ashamed of yourself. because not to believe in the whole Bible is hypacritical in the christian ways!

The history of the Christian religion is that the Christians, in order to be safe from being killed, communicated in codes in their correspondence.
The book of Revelation is an example of coded writings.
Many people have tried to understand it all, and none really have made complete sense of it.
Jesus said the day of judgement will come like a thief in the night.
We don't really know when it will be. And maybe that is fine.
Study and try to learn. That is the best thing to do. Never stop learning.

It used to be Ronald Reagan's address, until he had it changed to 668. I believe 666 was more appropriate.
