I have a pear tree and I've invested too much time and effort in it to just let the squirrels devour my crop...as they did last year..the bast***s! How do I prevent this??

There are many sprays out there to repel them. Find a garden store near you and tell them your problem. If that doesn't work, do what I do. Get a pellet gun.

The best thing you can do to prevent them from eating your crop is to assign a small place where you can leave some pears for them (remember they take your pears not to annoy you, but because they're hungry, so take some pity on them!) If the squirrels can find these fruits somewhere other than in your tree, I'm pretty sure they'll leave the tree alone. And as far as getting a pellet gun, DON'T! Because I'm sure someone is going to report you and you don't want to have ANIMAL CRUELTY in your history...that is if you are a decent person.
