If you're around my age, 23-29 ---

What do you think about wearing capris pants to a job interview? Is that appropriate? Or should I just wear full-length pants just to be safe?

I'm interviewing for a job this coming Monday - same company, but different position. They're very casual here, but I still want to look professional for the interview.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Ok I am a man, So if you are serious about the job come dressed in something professional. Even though its a casual place you work at coming dressed as a casual worker shows to the boss that you don't look at the position seriously. If you dress as if you are seriously wanting the job, like in a business suit or business slacks then you present yourself in the best lighting. The old adage is that you can only make one first impression.

I'm not around your age, but it doesn't matter. A job interview is how you make a first impression of yourself. If you want to be taken seriously and considered for the position, wear long pants or a skirt, not capris. Treat every interview equally - always look professional.

I don't know about other types of jobs but if you're going for a professional or technological position, wear a skirt and jacket or a business suit to the interview.

Just because normal dress is casual doesn't mean you want to come to the interview that way. Dressing up, especially when they know that you know you don't have to, helps you convey that "Hey, I'm excited at the prospect of this position"

No capris. This place may be casual, but you don't work there yet. You're going for an interview, and it is important that you look professional. You don't have a wear a suit, just dress pants and a nice button down shirt is fine.

Even though the company is casual if your interviewing for a higher position, definitely look the part. Long pants or tasteful skirt and blouse. It's still an interview so think of it as a new job, because in essence that's what it is! GOOD LUCK!

When I hire, I'm looking for someone who'll impress me with their professionalism. Something that says "you'll WORK for me" and that you're more seriously interested in this job, than anyone else I (the mgr) has seen today". You make a statement with your way of dress; so be congruent to the type & area of the job for which you're applying. (I.e., The only time I should see jeans or capris is for a gardening position, or dog-walker, etc.)

Be foolproof: try on each outfit you're considering, go out in public and ask other professional-looking adults 'what job would they think you have (based on your way of dress).' You're on the mark, when the answer you receive is just slightly higher than the one you're applying for.

Dress for success. I took a class on how to dress for interviews and speak in front of people. Would you wear capris in an office?? I think not!

Do not wear Pants if you are being interviewed by a Man. You wear a proper Business Suit with a skirt and Pantyhose. Also conservative jewelry.

Unless you work for a store that is selling those capris, then don't wear them under any circumstances. Dress professionally. The only exception is in retail - then you should definitely wear the most up-to-date outfit currently being sold by that store.
