Wheels balanced and tyres pressure correct, alloys ok. Think it might be something sinister, been such a good car reluctant to part with it if 'wobble' can be located. Thanks for all your input all..

You my friend have a very difficult situation to diagnose over the net. however you should have the balance of the tires checked on a computerized balance machine that has whats called "road force" capability, make sure that your wheel bearings are properly tightened, and that you don't have a bent rim to start with. does the car have spoked wheels?, if so have them checked by someone very qualified to make sure the spokes are properly tightened as to true the rim. if all this checks out resubmit the question and we'll go from there

Most of the people who have answered have covered the obvious ideas however before you start thinking "sinister things" have you tried for instance rotating the wheels around ? sometimes a tyre defect can cause the problem you describe, the lower arm bushes as mentioned can also cause this problem and are a common fault as is the anti roll bar links, also there is the question of the driveshafts, not many people realise that they need to be balanced as well, they usually have stick on wieghts which can become detattched and this can cause this problem, also has it had a clutch fitted ? with the cavaliers they employed a letter box sytem on the vecra this was left out so if a clutch change has been done and the front subframe not aligned properly ? hope this helps

Have you had new alloy wheels fitted? If so make sure the centre spiggot is correct for your car. I had a problem with this a year ago, bad vibration at above 50ish mph. A wobble does sound like one or more of your tyres are screwed though. Go to another garage for a second opinion. If they can't even find the problem they should not be working there.

make sure air in tires is at correct and equal pressure, also balance the tires,i have a galant and at high speeds it felt like it was gonna shake apart, got all four tires balanced, usually like 2-4$ a tire, but was well worth it,also if the air is low or unequal it will cause the same issue..of coars alignment also goes into play with this,if that is off then expect the shake.start off cheap, air the tires to right pressure, still wobble?balance tires, still wobble?alignment?still wobble....get a new car!good luck

I think 'stinkydongsty' (what a bloody terrible name) has the right answer.
I bought a similar car which had the same problem, all sorts of thoughts (expensive) were going thru' my mind, it turned out to be wheel balance only. It's not going to cost much to check that out as a first step, try it.
Hope this helps!
