"Aetna Recognized On Money Magazine List For Best Benefits
HARTFORD, CT, August 14, 2000 -- Aetna Inc., a Fortune 50 global health and financial services company, has been recognized in the September issue of Money magazine in its annual list of "America's Best Company Benefits." This marks the second year that Aetna has been included as a leader in employee benefits by the magazine.
"Aetna is proud to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to employees," said Elease Wright, senior vice president for Human Resources. "Aetna has a long history of providing a superior benefits package to employees and retirees. We understand that the quality of a benefits package is an important factor in maintaining a first-rate and highly motivated staff. It is gratifying that our efforts on behalf of 46,000 employees have been included in this annual listing of the best."
Using the expertise of benefits consultants, the magazine focused on four important benefits, including retirement plans (including profit sharing), stock options, insurance and health care. Aetna scored 16th on a list of the top 50, up from number 20 last year. The article examines how companies are responding to their employee needs and includes a comprehensive chart highlighting the benefits that each of the top 50 companies provides to their employees.
In the past year, Aetna has been recognized by a number of other publications for its commitment to employees. They include:
100 Best Companies for Working Mothers, Working Mothers magazine, October 1999;
Top 50 Companies for Latinas, Latina Style magazine, July/August 1999; and
Top 25 Companies for Executive Women, Working Woman magazine, September 1999.
A Fortune 50 company, Aetna currently provides over 45 million people with quality products, services and information. Aetna is the nation's leading health and related benefits organization with 19.4 million health members, 14.6 million dental members, and 11.5 million group insurance members."
