On average a colony comprises 42,000-60,000 bees and can survive up to 20 years. I read that online. I dont think they are endangered anywhere. A queen may produce half a million eggs in her natural lifespan. However, she will only be allowed to live 2 years in the commercial world producing 150,000 eggs annually during this time.

Actually there was an outbreak of a mite on the eastern US coast and the actual honeybee (as opposed to the bumble bee , yellow jacket and other beeish types) is now quite scarce and bee keepers are defending their charges zelously. Hopefully the population will rebuild- we need them for pollination. I don't know if this is countrywide or worldwide or only regional.

i dont think of they are turning out to be endangered . yet in a mag i examine it mentioned that einstein claimed that if honey bees are wiped of the earth that we wont be waiting to stay for extra advantageous than 4 years as a million in each and every 4 mouthfuls we eat have honey in . no longer all bees produce honey. in user-friendly terms honey bees.
