Question

I asked a question about displaying the Confederate Flag outside my home and people thought I was serious. First I will fly any dam flag if I chose to, and I don't plan on taking any sensivity courses about it. I chose not to since the war is over and I am a Northerner, It's about slavery still is in the northern minds and most blacks, shame on you , don't you know Lincoln free the slaves in the South? Yes, but only in the South, The slaves in the north stayed Slaves till 2 or 3 years after the war. I don't mean to bust on anybody, but learn some history fer Pete's sake. Oh! thanks for all the answers, it was fun reading them.

Good job! Evidently, you've done your homework!

Many aren't aware that the American Civil War was "NOT" about slavery. Nor are many aware that slaves were still being held as private property in the North during that time. Abraham Lincoln owned a slave during the war, and Union General U.S. Grant owned 4.

The war was, from the Southern standpoint, over States Rights, i.e., a state had authority over the federal government within it's own borders. And also, to defend against an illegal military invasion from the North.

But it's always the victors in war that write the history, isn't it?

OK, so I'm white (not a supremacist), and a northerner. But I think in our day & age, the flag & the term "rebel" is a symbol of non-conformist. I guess that only by asking stupid Questions do we find out just how screwed up alot of peoples thinking still is! Maybe somewhere in the course, they'll come to realize that too!!! If your makin' them mad, your makin' them think.

I think you are right,some people are stupid,I'm stupid on math.but good in history,my wife good in math but stupid on history,most people think that they are smarter but actually they are also stupid.
I did not read your question about display the Confederate Flag,I can understand your feeling but don't take it that serious because this is Yahoo answer around the world,people can answer our question by their own opinion,but glad that you have fun for reading those answers,enjoy your READING !
