Arthur Williams is a great playwright and a major influence on many after him. Try reading some of his contemporaries too like:
- Tennessee Williams (Glass Menagerie, Sweet Bird of Youth, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof)
- Harold Pinter (The Birthday Party, The Dumb Waiter)
- Edward Albee (Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf?, The Goat or Who is Sylvia?)
Or influences like:
- Anton Chekhov (Three Sisters, The Cherry Orchard)
- Sophocles (Oedipus Rex)
Maybe even try more contemporary writers who may have been influenced by Arthur Miller like:
- Alan Ball (Five Women in the Same Dress, American Beauty (film), Six Feet Under (TV series)
- David Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross)
I hope that helps you get started!

Eugene O'Neill, start with "The Iceman Cometh," Tennesee Williams, "A Glass Menagerie," and perhaps David Mamet. By the way, the term is playwright. Enjoy!

Clifford Odets.
William Inge.
Eugene O'Neill.
All are American, all are near-contemporaries of Miller. And they all share some of the same sensibilities, and address some of the same issues.

Tenesee Wiiliams and Thornton Wlder (Particularly 'Our Town'). Awesome play - I had the lead in it once. Pretty trying though. My character was on stage through all acts (about 2hrs) and had the most lines... Fun but stressful!
