What tax? Texas has no state income tax, so that would be 0%. Our sales tax varies by county and city, but the state rate is 6.25%. Some areas have local rates that are higher than that.

Texas will calculate the tax using the local rate in effect where you live when you register it, using their own guidebook on values and then subtract whatever you can prove that you paid to PA. Be sure to bring proof of what you paid! If you paid less to PA, you pay the difference. If you paid more, Texas will collect no tax. Note that while the state rate is 6.5%, local options typically bring that up to 8.25% or more. Also note that while Texas has no income tax, the property taxes are heart-stopping. I'm paying less in property and income taxes combined in Missouri that I paid in property taxes in Texas.
