You're wrong....it's a shame to say it BUT in today's society most people aren't even virgins by the time they get out of high school. They rush marriage however because women especially see it as a total commitment. The problem with rushing marriage (when you're not ready to commit to forever) or because you 'think' that you love someone...is that it causes a higher divorce rate.

Was married at 22 and am now 48. Should be a age limit set on marriage...say 28 minimum...would agree that to many young people rush into it with nothing but rosey ideas. It is a lot of hard work and sacrifice.

you are wrong thankfully. but I think that people worry that they may never find the right person if they don't do it when they have found someone that really understands them. I am in a relationship right now where I am engaged, I'm 20 years old but I am realizing now that i am not truly happy, I love his family and am very used to the way things are already so I have decided to wait and prolong marriage until I am sure that he is the one that I want. I think people lack a sense of security in their lives and that is why the divorce rate in the U.S. is going to be 50% in a few years.

When people have that blissful feeling, they may be afraid of losing it, and think that by getting married, they can "bottle" those feelings, keeping them for eternity. Either that or else they're afraid that their partner will find out who they really are...>) Of course it could just be to lose their virginity, often for the 5th time.

I don't know anyone who's still a virgin by the time they get married, so I doubt that's the reason. I'm sure there are some people out there who are, but they're few and far between.
